Following the judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the “Lassana Diarra case”, which challenged a set of FIFA rules – in particular Article 17 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) – and after the launch of a global public consultation on the rules of Article 17 of the RSTP, FIFA has suspended the application of new disciplinary measures and - likewise - existing disciplinary measures against players applied under Article 17 of the RSTP and Article 6 of Annex 2 to the RSTP.
Similarly, the decision of the Chairperson of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee suspends the application of disciplinary measures to clubs under paragraph 2 of Article 17 of the RSTP and the application of Football Tribunal decisions triggered under Article 21 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (ed. 2023).
